MARK GOFF will make his appearance on Saturday, November the 10th from 1 to 5 P.m. He will be signing his photo albums and giving demonstrations of paper engineering and pop-up book design.
Goffengel Workshop was founded In 2005 by Mark Goff, an Oregon-born and
raised artist, who worked for 20 years in the costuming industry as a designer, head cutter (otherwise known as a pattern maker), and manager of a wardrobe and costume shop in Los Angeles. He was responsible for creating spectacular one-of-a-kind menswear, women’s wear, gowns, historic and unusual costumes for film, television, theater, and a handful of private clients.
For as far back as he can remember, Mark has had a passion for pop-up books and paper engineering, which is only a few steps away from the work of a pattern maker. Upon leaving the costuming industry, he focused on designing "paper engineered" products that would extend the use of pop-ups beyond their current traditional uses in books, cards, and in advertising.
Mark began creating his first product idea, which developed into the Pop-up Wedding Photograph Album, after his research and study of paper engineering. Quickly, the Wedding book was followed by the Pop-up Baby Photograph Album, the Pop-up Christmas Photograph Album, and most recently two Pop-up Photograph Albums boys and girls - Rocket to Pluto (an album for boys) and Fairytale Dreams (an album for girls).
A Pop-up Garden album based on 18th century botanicals, as well as a Bar/Bat Mitzvah Pop-up Photo Album is in store for 2008. On the boards for development are pop-up albums for the cat lover and of course, the dog lover, not to mention travel, school days, sports, anniversaries, Halloween, Valentines Day, and the list goes on and on.
Each album also has coordinating note and greeting cards, Individual as well as boxed sets. Currently, GOffengel Workshop offers a Pop-Up Wedding Invitation, Pop-Up Baby announcements, and several Pop-Up Christmas card designs.
Goffengel Workshop's goal is to take Pop-up out of the hands of children and put it in the hands of adults who are the true admirers of the craftsmanship and the creativity involved in the design and production of these unique works of art.
